Dear Readers

It is with great sorrow that we report the closing of Rascal House Deli in Sunny Isles Beach, FL.

It was on of the most traditional Delis of South Florida. Operating since the mid 50’s, when most of the Florida coast had kitsch beach side motels, it has endured time with poise and a somewhat cheeky attitude. Its many red leather-covered booths were always full and patrons were greeted by bowls of Ruggallah, bread slices and a variety of condiments.

Its stack of pancakes with warm maple syrup were such a favorite of mine that we drove for almost 30 minutes so that I could have them as part of my diabetes test during pregnancy, after fasting for 12 hours at 7 months!

Their portions were always beyond generous and could be easily shared by a couple. Their had a large deli menu and 24 hours breakfast options. Isabel had the privilege of going twice. Both still as an infant, staying at the booth on her car seat.

In its place, there will be an overpriced high rise condo with limited beach view.

Rascal House, you will be missed!
